Code of Practice on Access to Government Information – Guidance on Interpretation

NOTE: The Code of Practice on Access to Govenment Information was introduced by the Conservative Government in April 1994 as an alternative to a freedom of information act. The Code has now been superseded by the Freedom of Information Act 2000 which came fully into force on 1 January 2005. An archived version of the Code is available on the The National Archives website here.

The Campaign has produced an electronic version of the Government’s Guidance on Interpretation of the open government code. This has not been available on the Internet before and has been reproduced with the permission of the Department for Constitutional Affairs (formerly the Lord Chancellor’s Department).
